NBSN Appointment and Committee Duties

The NBSN President makes all appointments and appoints all Committee Chairs and Committee members, subject to Board approval.

Parliamentarian

Appointed position by the NBSN President

Term will run for two years

Re-appointments to position can occur each two-year term.

Duties: The Parliamentarian is an expert in rules of order and the proper procedures for the conduct of meetings and deliberation of NBSN Annual Meetings. The Parliamentarian will assist NBSN membership in the interpretation of bylaws, rules of order and conduct of meetings.

National Conference Committee

National Conference Chair/Co-chair is appointed by the President

An additional Three (3) Members of the National Conference Committee will be appointed by the NBSN President.

Term will run for two years

Re-appointments to the position can occur each two-year term

Two members of the National Conference Committee will be elected at large in accordance with election procedures at the annual meeting and will serve a two-year term.

Duties:   The National Conference Committee will plan the NBSN Annual Meeting and conference, secure hotel, vendors, presenters and activities.

The Committee will make recommendations to the NBSN President and NBSN Executive Board of any and all future NBSN Annual meeting locations. The Committee will also develop some baseline standards that shall be in place when officering a state as the host site for a future NBSN Annual meeting.  The committee shall discuss the issues; concerns and challenges host states must address in order to sponsor the Annual meeting.

Future NBSN Annual Meeting locations will be presented at an Annual meeting at least two years in advance of such.

Awards Committee

Duties:  The Awards Committee will review, discuss and select the award recipients for the JEGNA and Sam Ethridge Awards.  The committee will establish criteria for the selection of the recipients.

Elections Committee

Duties:  The Elections Committee will oversee the election process at the NBSN Annual Meeting; and to assist the board by conducting elections in a fair and efficient manner, following the NBSN Election Procedures.

Constitution and Bylaws Committee

Duties:  The Constitution and Bylaws Committee will convene to discuss issues and concerns relating to the NBSN’s Constitution and Bylaws on an as needed basis.  The Committee will be charged with making necessary recommendations of amendments.  Any and all amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws will be made in accordance with Article VII: Amendments.

Finance Committee

Duties:  The Finance Committee will develop the operating budget for the upcoming year.  The budget shall be presented to the Board of Directors for approval and then presented to the general body at the annual meeting for acceptance by majority vote.  The committee shall meet prior to the Board meeting at the annual meeting.  An Ad Hoc sub-committee may be called to assist the Finance Committee.

Ad Hoc Sub-Committee for Budget –  Define guidelines for payment of contingency funds

Membership Committee

Duties:  The Membership Committee shall develop strategies that will help to promote membership and involvement within NBSN.  The Committee will: create a state contact list to assist with identifying potential members, acquire updated information on retirees, and survey members on needs as members of NBSN.  The Chair/Co-Chair shall meet by conference call with the NBSN Executive Board a minimum of two times prior to the NBSN Annual Meeting to provide a report of strategies and updates of progress.  A report of the suggestions and strategies will be provided during the NBSN Annual Meeting. The Membership Committee will also assist in creating flyers and collecting news information for the FB page and the NBSN website.

Website/Communication Committee

Duties:  The Website Committee will work with the NBSN President and Membership Committee on content and keeping the site update. The Membership Committee shall develop strategies that will help to promote membership via website and other modes of communication. The Membership Committee will also assist in creating flyers and collecting news information for the FB page and the NBSN website.
